This video demonstrates a technique for tissue morcellation through a minilaparotomy using a scalpel. Please review in detail prior to the BootCamp

Electromechanical ("Power") Morcellation
Electromechanical, sometimes called "Power" morcellation relies upon devices that have a rotating cylinder with the distal end fashioned as a cutting blade. By grasping the tissue with a special tenaculum, withdrawing the tenaculum thereby juxtaposing the tissue with the blade, the specimen can be morcellated, withdrawing the cylindrical tissue specimens.

Guidelines for Electromechanical Morcellation
There were concerns that electromechanical morcellation of malignant tissue could compromise disease outcome. Please be familiar with these guidelines published by the AAGL and the FDA regarding electromechanical morcellation of the uterus in the presence of leiomyomas
